On a recent trip to Italy, I painted a series of what I called "cartoline" (postcards in Italian) form various places we visited. A friend told me scenes like this are called a "scorcio", or "glimpse" in Italian. I loved peering down the narrow streets, sometimes from light to a mysterious darkness or sometimes the opposite.
