Still Life in Glass
A soft pastel painting on sanded museum board. Painted from a photo I took myself at Pulaski Antiques in Peabody, MA. I really enjoyed the challenge of representing the reflections and clear sections of the class. The way it distorted the scene behind the shelf that one sees in the window behind this group of glass objects was appealing to me as a painter. I particularly enjoyed thinking about the fragile nature of these objects in contrast to the stark landscape outside and how the trees may hibernate, but they do not break under pressure.
