Scouting for good plein air painting locations, I happened upon this beautiful old barn, just as the morning sun broke through the clouds, lighting up the barn’s roof and just-cut hayfields. Using soft pastels and a toothy sanded paper, I was able to quickly capture that newly revealed, yet timeless, verdant world.
