Nest

This is a portrait of my niece gifted to my brother from a reference photo he provided. It's carbothello pastel pencils on Mi-Teintes canson. She's a delightful kid and I hoped to capture her easy unaffected smile and the dexterity she was developing as a baby. I started with a carbothello sketch on newsprint, then a tonal sketch with comic markers on strathmore toned tan paper and then to the final.
