Driving through Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas and this simple mound of rock with the sunlight from the setting sun inspired me to paint this scene. I used a Uart 500 grit paper with nupastel alcohol wash underpainting. Terry Ludwig Red Rock collection soft pastels with a hard pastel finish.
